House Rules Overview
We have created these house rules to help you enjoy your stay at Heron’s Hideaway while respecting the property and the neighbors. Following these rules is required and will be strictly enforced. Please treat the home as if it were your own, and notify us immediately if you notice any damage upon arrival.
Parties or Events
We do not allow parties or events at the property. Any group larger than six adults is considered a party. To maintain a peaceful environment for our neighbors, we ask that noise levels be kept reasonable—especially around the dock and outdoor areas. Fireworks and loud music are prohibited.
Extra Guests
Only the number of guests listed on the reservation (maximum of 6 adults) are permitted on the property—both inside and outside. Unauthorized guests can contribute to noise disturbances and potential damage, so we appreciate your cooperation.
Quiet Time
Quiet hours are from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM. During these hours, please ensure that noise is kept to a minimum, particularly outside and on the dock.
Parking
A maximum of 4 vehicles are allowed on the property, with parking restricted to the driveway. Street and lawn parking are strictly prohibited. Please reach out if you need an exception to this rule.
Locking Up
Please lock all doors whenever you leave the property and before going to bed.
Trash Disposal
Trash pickup occurs every Wednesday. If your stay includes a Wednesday or you check out on a Wednesday, please place the trash cart at the street the night before. A few trash bags are provided; however, guests may need to supply extras if needed.
Pets
Pets are welcome with prior approval.
- Pet Fee: $150 (paid before arrival)
- Limit: 2 dogs (no cats or other animals)
- Clean-Up Policy: Guests must clean up after pets. A $75 fee will be charged if pet waste is left in the yard. Unauthorized pets will result in a $500 fine.
Dishes
We provide plenty of dishes, glassware, and cooking supplies for your use. Please handle these items with care. If anything breaks, please inform us so we can replace it. Before checking out, load and start the dishwasher to give us enough time to prepare for the next guest.
Furnishings
Please handle all furnishings with care. Do not rearrange furniture or stain surfaces. Guests are responsible for damage to any property or furnishings.
Broken Items
Accidents happen. If you break something, please notify us right away so we can repair or replace it.
Child Safety
Children must be supervised at all times—especially near the lake, on balconies, or using the bunk beds. Life jackets are provided in the laundry room.
General Safety
- Windows & Doors: Close and lock all windows and doors when leaving the property.
- Dock Area: No diving or jumping from the dock or railings. Life jackets are available for safety.
- Boats: A maximum of 2 boats may dock at the floating dock. Docking is at your own risk.
- Dock Chairs: Please return chairs to their designated areas after use to prevent them from being blown into the water.
Garage Access
The garage is off-limits to guests.
Smoking Policy
Smoking is prohibited inside the house. Please smoke outside and dispose of cigarette butts properly.
- Fine: $250 if evidence of indoor smoking or discarded cigarettes is found.
Illegal Substances
No illegal substances or underage drinking are allowed on the property. Violations will result in immediate termination of the rental agreement and eviction.
Check-In & Check-Out
- Check-In: 4:00 PM (unless otherwise agreed)
- Check-Out: 10:00 AM (the housekeeper arrives shortly after)
Before Checkout:
- Remove all food from the refrigerator and cabinets.
- Take out the trash and place it in the roll cart.
- Turn off all electronics and lights.
- Set the thermostat to 70°F if the AC is on, or 65°F if the heat is on.
- Lock all doors and windows.
- Place dirty linens in a pile.
- Start the dishwasher.
- Lock the laundry room and downstairs bathroom, and leave the key on the kitchen counter.
